Presentation

The global energy system is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Renewable energy sources such as solar and wind are growing rapidly, but their intermittent nature creates a critical gap between generation and consumption. Energy storage is the essential bridge that enables a reliable, resilient, and low-carbon energy system, particularly for energy-intensive industries such as glass manufacturing, which require continuous high-temperature operations and are highly sensitive to electricity prices and supply stability.

This work is based on Great Power’s research, development and industrial practice spanning more than 20 years, covering grid-side and generation-side storage, commercial and industrial energy storage, residential and portable storage, and telecom backup power. Key performance indicators include safety records, cycle life, energy efficiency, low-temperature operability, and economic returns for end customers.

Three technology breakthroughs are highlighted. Flame-retardant gel electrolyte enables in-situ gelation and effectively prevents thermal runaway without compromising electrochemical performance. LTSC technology allows charging at -30°C and discharging at -40°C with charge/discharge efficiency of over 95%. Full-tab cylindrical battery design reduces internal resistance, improves current conduction efficiency, and extends cycle life, resulting in higher efficiency and lower total cost of ownership. Sodium-ion batteries and all-solid-state batteries are also covered for energy storage applications.

In real-world applications, systems have achieved zero safety incidents, cycle life exceeding 6,000 cycles, and peak demand reduction of 15–25%. Energy storage enables peak shaving, valley filling, demand charge management, renewable energy integration, and participation in demand response programs.
